Round 3 - Update on Memorials - 4/1/09

The 2009 synod assembly year is expected to be our busiest in the history of the ELCA. We anticipate more synods than ever before will consider resolutions and memorials calling for the full inclusion of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Synod memorials are the best way for advocates for full inclusion to ask the church to end its policies of discrimination. Read more...

Talking Points and Other Helps - 4/15/09

The Goodsoil Legislative Team has developed talking points for our own memorials as well as a few others. These talking points will provide helpful information designed to provide as much clarity on the issues as possible.

We have also written the following:
Goodsoil’s Guide to the Recommended Proposed Social Statement and Rostering Recommendation on Ministry Policy.
It is a “Frequently Asked Questions” document providing background on the two statements recommended by the ELCA Church Council.

Talking Points Against Imposing a Two-thirds Majority Requirement
Goodsoil believes that decisions about ministry policy should be made in the way that the vast majority of decisions are made in most organizations: via simple majority vote (50%). Read more...
